Knowing your worksite conditions is just as important as the crane scale itself. The truth is, weighing hanging loads on dusty outdoor construction sites is very different from measuring pallets on an indoor loading dock. One of the best ways to ensure your crane scale can be used for daily operations is by verifying its ratings and construction are up to par. For example, a crane scale with an IP65 rating, like the MSI Tension Dynamometer Series, is well-suited for extra-dusty or occasional washdown environments.
As a rule of thumb, choose a crane scale that can withstand the harshest conditions it will encounter. Otherwise, an underrated scale risks premature failure, while an overrated one may be unnecessarily costly.

If the operator will only be a few feet away, a standard integrated display is often enough. That said, if the operator will be several feet away, or even on the ground, it may be worth considering an additional display.
